Intercom

You can use the intercom feature for conversations between the telephone base and the cordless handset.

NOTE

  • Your telephone base supports up to four cordless handsets. You can buy additional expansion handsets (SN5107) or photo speed dial handsets (SN5307) for this telephone base.

Make an intercom call

Using a cordless handset:

  1. Press MENU/SELECT, then press down key or up key to scroll to Intercom and then press MENU/SELECT.

    • If you have no additional expansion handset or photo speed dial handset, the cordless handset displays Calling base. The telephone base rings.

    • If you have other registered handsets, the cordless handset displays INTERCOM TO:. Press down key or up key to choose a desired device and then press MENU/SELECT.

      You may also enter a destination handset number (1 - 4), or press 0 for the telephone base, or press TONE/PAUSE for all devices.

    The destination device rings. If you have two or more cordless handsets, the destination handset displays HANDSET X is calling or HANDSET X is calling all.

  2. To answer the intercom call on the destination handset, press TALK/FLASH or Speaker key. The cordless handset displays Intercom.

    3. - OR -

    To answer the intercom call on the telephone base, press Speaker key.

  3. To end the intercom call, press OFF/CANCEL or place the handset back in the charging cradle. The cordless handset displays Intercom ended.

    4. - OR -

    To end the intercom call on the telephone base, press Speaker key on the telephone base.

NOTES

  • To cancel the intercom call before it is answered, press OFF/CANCEL.

  • Press OFF/CANCEL or MUTE/DELETE on the cordless handset to temporarily silence the intercom ringer.

  • If the destination device is not powered, out of range, on a call, or does not answer the intercom call within 100 seconds, your handset displays No answer. Try again. and then returns to idle mode.

  • Only one intercom call can be established at a time.

Using the telephone base:

  1. Press PAGE on the right side of the telephone base. The telephone base make intercom call to all system devices.

  2. To answer the intercom call on the destination handset, press TALK/FLASH or Speaker key. The cordless handset displays Intercom.

  3. To end the intercom call, press Speaker key on the telephone base.

NOTE

  • To cancel the intercom call before it is answered, press PAGE.

Answer an incoming call during an intercom call

When you receive an outside call during an intercom call, there is an alert tone.

  • To answer the outside call, press TALK/FLASH. The intercom call ends automatically.

  • To end the intercom call without answering the outside call, press OFF/CANCEL. The telephone continues to ring.

Call transfer using intercom

Use the intercom feature to transfer an outside call using the cordless handset. You can also share an outside call with another handset or the telephone base.

  1. During a call with the cordless handset, press MENU/SELECT. Then, press MENU/SELECT again to select Intercom.

    • If you have no additional expansion handset or photo speed dial handset, the cordless handset displays Calling base. The telephone base rings.

    • If you have other registered handsets, the cordless handset displays INTERCOM TO:. Press down key or up key to choose a desired device and then press MENU/SELECT.

      You may also enter a destination handset number (1 - 4), or press 0 for the telephone base, or press TONE/PAUSE for all devices.

    The destination device rings. If you have two or more cordless handsets, the destination handset displays HANDSET X is calling or HANDSET X is calling all.

  2. To answer the intercom call on the destination handset, press TALK/FLASH or Speaker key. The cordless handset displays Intercom.

    - OR -

    To answer the intercom call on the telephone base, press Speaker key.

    3. NOTES

    • To cancel the intercom call before it is answered, press OFF/CANCEL.

    • If the destination device is not powered, out of range, on a call, or does not answer the intercom call within 100 seconds, your handset displays No answer. Try again. and then returns to idle mode.

  3. When the destination device picks up, the outside call is put on hold. Then, you have the following options:

    • You can transfer the call to the destination device.

      • Press OFF/CANCEL. You handset displays Call transferred. The destination device is then connected to the outside call.

        • - OR -

      • Press MENU/SELECT twice. Your handset displays Call transferred. The destination device is then connected to the outside call.

    • You can let the destination handset join you on the outside call in a three-way conversation. Press MENU/SELECT, then press down key or up key to scroll to Share call and then press MENU/SELECT on the originating handset.

    • You can end the intercom call and continue the outside call with the originating handset. Press TALK/FLASH on your handset to end the intercom call and continue with the outside call.
